Preliminary Hearing - 3 April 2014

A Preliminary Hearing was held in public on 3rd April at St Paul’s Centre, which marked the official launch of the Independent Jersey Care Inquiry.

The Preliminary Hearing set out how fair treatment for witnesses is at the heart of the Inquiry.

Preliminary Hearing - 16 June 2014

A second preliminary hearing was held at the Inquiry offices on Monday 16 July.

It was announced that public hearings would start on Tuesday 22 July. The Minister of the Health and Social Services Department was ordered to comply with a summons for disclosure of key documents.

IJCI Panel advise of delay to publication of report after receiving new information relating to Phase 3 of their work.

​The Panel of the Independent Jersey Care Inquiry on Thursday (9 March) released the following statement:

"The Panel has received new information as part of Phase 3 of its work, in respect of recommendations for the future of Jersey's childcare system.

"The Panel has advised the States of Jersey that there will be a delay to the publication of the report pending examination of the new information as to whether it affects the recommendations we intend to make.

"We do not anticipate extensive delays. We will announce the date of the report's publication in due course and advise on the arrangements that will be in place for its launch."

IJCI final report to be published in first quarter of 2017.

The Panel Independent Jersey Care Inquiry is progressing with the drafting of its report into the abuse of children in Jersey's care system over many years. It confirms that the report will be published during the first quarter of 2017 and not at the end of 2016 as previously published. Further information in respect of the publication will be provided in the New Year.
